Dad

Dad was everything. Generaly he could fix anything, cars, houses, broken bones and broken hearts, but as a skilled engineer he travelled the world with the merchant Navy and even made it through the Bermuda triangle, which is one of many stories but definately my favourite. A keen photographer all his life who has captured not only the ones he loved, but every sunrise, sunset and everything inbetween. He would even take photos working on the rigs after the navy, and those photos all came with a story too. He loved played pool and snooker, whether with his good friend Mike, Pete or Vic at the pub, the local tours or travelling the country in the international Seniors tour with his pool mates, or the Rat Pack as he called them, but he enjoyed the social side more, he just enjoyed people and seeing everyone having a good time. He always left everyone with a smile. For someone who worked so hard and done so many things in his life, he was always deeply devoted to others, his family, friends and always had more to give. Dad would stand up for anyone and would always help where he could. After the Rigs, he worked the railway and made so many good friends... and also lots of arguments with management to make things better. Always up for a good debate and he could be argumentative, but that was Dad. He would always crack a joke and everyone would be smiling again. He always said he couldnt suffer fools and saved his good nature for those that deserved it. Always there when you needed him, and encouraged others to follow their dreams, even though he willingly sacrificed many of his own to care for those around him, especially our mum Margaret. Their bond was something beautifull and eternal. 50 years together and when she passed in 2021, he persevered but I don't think he was meant for this world anymore without her. You are so sadly missed Dad, the world is not as bright without you. But I see you in every sunrise, sunset and everything inbetween and I smile.
